Asha, a former Addison Music Learning Centre student, is going into her fourth year at Wilfrid Laurier University, majoring in Music Education. Her main instrument is voice, but she also has experience playing piano, guitar, tuba, trumpet and trombone. Asha has been studying under the vocal leadership of Professor Lynda Mieske during her three years at Laurier, who was a professional recital, opera, and oratorio singer before she began teaching. Before deciding to study opera at Laurier, Asha experimented with pop and musical theatre as well as classical repertoire. She placed in many voice competitions in all three categories, while preparing for university auditions by completing exams through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She was also a member of Stage-it Performing Arts, where she performed in community musicals for four years. Currently, Asha is part of Laurier’s world-renown music skills program and takes pride in her sight singing, rhythm, and ear training abilities. She sings in Laurier’s Concert Choir currently, and has also been a part of the Maureen Forrester Singers, Laurier’s treble choir. She loves conducting for both choir and orchestra, and was inspired by the female conductor she who taught her, Dr. Jessica Kun. She sings fluently in English, French, German, Italian, and Latin, and her favourite composers are Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy. She is excited to attend Teachers College for music after graduation.

SUMMER MUSIC CAMP JULY & AUGUST 2016
Summed up in pictures, video, and singing!
SUMMER CAMP PRAISE

My name is Noelle and my daughter Adison attended the Glee summer camp this year and she absolutely loved it!  She sang various songs to us all that week and made crafts to share as well.

We loved the end of week performance and really liked that they sang a good mix of songs from old to current.

Adison really enjoyed learning from Erin, and said that she can't wait to come again next year!

Thanks again

NOELLE MACKENZIE August 2016

This was our first year in the Summer Camp at Addison and my daughter's first exposure to a Music school. We wanted to compliment Erin on leading a fun and interactive summer camp. My 8-year old daughter had fun in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. Equally importantly I was amazed to see how quickly my daughter learned the basics of three different instruments in addition to learning 8-9 different songs. The end of week performance included a fantastic 30 min performance by all the children in the camp which included singing and instrument showcase.

We used the before care at Speckled Arts  Studio across the street also for the very first time. My daughter had so much fun that we have now signed up for a full week of camp.

My older daughter, a student at Addison, volunteered at the camp and she too felt included and had a lot of fun.

Thank you Addison Music teachers and staff for providing such a safe, fun, relaxed and creative environment for all ages. Both my girls are looking forward to next year's camp.

Regards,
Swapna, August 2016

"Thank you for this video Kim - it's awesome! And thank you to Vanessa and Bailey for making the week such a wonderful experience for the kids. Lauren had a ball and is extremely proud of what she and her friends have produced. What a great way to boost their confidence and self esteem!  We look forward to beginning Mini Musicians in September!"  Aubrie Urie, July 7 camp, 2014

The video was awesome!

Made my day to watch it.  Thanks so much for sharing.  Alisha had such a great time at camp.   Carolyn Grffith, July 7 camp, 2014

"Just watched this video and we are crazy about it - we forwarded to tons of family and friends! They all loved it, too.    Thank you, all, for this great experience this past week.  Enjoy the rest of the summer and we can hopefully do more with your organization in the future." Take care. Teresa R, July 7 camp 2014

Thank you so much.  Valerie had a great time at your Music camp and was very sad it was over on the Friday.  The video will be a great keepsake for her!  Mich Desormeaux, July 7 camp 2014

JULY 2013 "ADDISON IDOL SUMMER CAMP"

This video to the left features one of our long time Oakville music lesson students, and Oakville summer camp attendees Jack.  Jack will again be joining Oakville Addison Idol Summer Camp 2013 for his third year in a row.  Why does Jack (and others) keep coming back?  Let's let him explain in his own words:
“Addison is a really fun place to be. They have really nice teachers and we do lots of fun activities, crafts and especially sing and play music. I like that I can meet new kids and make new friends...but to me, the best thing about it is that you get to record a song that you choose onto a CD that you get to keep."
